Artist Statement

​

I'm disillusioned with protest. I'm cynical about social change. 

But I'm also fledging, finding sanctuary and power in the anti-diet and body liberation movements.

The part of me that demands survival is pushing me to transgress from that dominant disillusionment. This work is about the battle between these two sides, the deal they struck, and what they made together.

This is a transient and impactless protest; a set of actions stepping only slightly outside of my own head. 

These were the familiar materials that tired and hopeful hands reached for, to lobby a tired and cynical mind.
